Tom Scherer

Tom is a picture of health but his health was not so great back in 2001.

Today, as a patient in the Adult Fitness Program, he diligently makes time for his workouts since he started in 2002.

Tom talks about how he started in the program.

“Well, what brought me here in 2002 was I had a heart attack in 2001 and they told me they thought that rehab would be good for me and I have been coming ever since,” said Tom.

Fast forward to 2019 and he has come in regularly over the last 17 years to keep in shape.

“What made me stay was I liked it. I liked the people who ran it then and the people who run it now. I liked everybody here,” he said.

Tom appreciates the staff and feels like they get things done. He doesn’t worry about meeting his goals because the staff is there to help. Over the years, he has increased his exercise tolerance, fitness level and friends among the staff. He enjoys how they offer guidance and work with him during his sessions. He has developed lifetime exercise habits and encourages others to do so.

“I would say it is a great program and they get things done here and you have people to talk to you. Here they work with you, said Tom. “I will stay until I am in a rest home or die.”
