Meet Terri Thomas, the new Friends Foundation Director

4/4/2024

Ste. Genevieve, MO. Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) is pleased to announce Terri Thomas as the new Friends Foundation Director.

Thomas is no stranger to SGCMH, as she was most recently assistant director of Materials Management. She was tapped to be director of the department when the Foundation position became open.

“I had been interested in the Foundation job for some time, and when it became open, I thought it would be a great opportunity so I decided to pursue it,” said Thomas.

Having worked with non-profits before, Terri is familiar with working with the community, and looks forward to working with the Ste. Genevieve residents.

“I want people in our community to understand the importance of supporting our local hospital and having it remain local and independent,” she said. “It’s a great passion of mine. We have an awesome healthcare organization right at our fingertips. You don’t have to go out of town to get healthcare. It’s available in our backyards.”

Thomas was raised in Ste. Genevieve and probably gets her passion for SGCMH from her mom, the late Rita Brumfield, who was Chief Nursing Officer and a fixture at the hospital for decades.

“She lived and breathed SGCMH,” said Thomas. “It was so important to her and was like an extension of her family. The relationships she had here and the love she had for this hospital was inspiring.”

Thomas is impressed with the community support of the foundation.

“The Friends Foundation has an all-volunteer board comprised of 10 community leaders, all of whom have a heart for Ste. Genevieve and healthcare and are great advocates for our hospital.” The Friends Foundation of Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital is a 501(c)3 not for profit dedicated to the support of SGCMH, the county-owned health system for Ste. Genevieve County.

The current board members are Dave Weber, Interim President, Mike Horrell, Treasurer, Jan Loida, Scott Barley, Tom French, Susan Keim, Jerry Bergtholdt, Tom Cavins and Bill Oberle and SGCMH Medical Staff members Matthew Bosner, MD, FACC, FACP and Keeli Platti, CRNA.

“I love that the Foundation and community work together in partnership for the common goal of supporting this hospital,” said Thomas. “Donors from all walks of life in the community are ready to support the hospital and I am grateful for that.”

Thomas is looking forward to the Friends Foundation’s upcoming golf tournament in June; the Ride to Survive in September and their signature event the gala in November.

Thomas invites anyone who is interested in finding out more about becoming a donor or the work of the Friends Foundation to call her at 573-883-7725.
