Community Resources for a Healthier Community
Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital takes pride in working in the community to help families access support when they need it. We strongly believe in connecting with community partners to implement programs to improve the health and wellness of the community. Here are a list of programs supported by SGCMH and our community partners.
Parish Nurse Program
The Parish Nurse Program is dedicated to promoting health and wellness within our community through compassionate care and education. Parish nurses serve as liaisons between healthcare resources and the congregation. They perform multiple roles emphasizing the relationship between faith and health. Whether you are seeking preventive screenings, health counseling, or simply a supportive presence, our team of dedicated volunteers are here to serve you. Together, we strive to create a healthier, stronger community.

Food is Medicine
The Fresh Foods Rx Produce Prescription Program is a “Food is Medicine” initiative where educational programs aim to teach the benefits of healthy eating and how to make nutritious food choices to promote healthy lifestyles.
The goal is to improve the dietary health of participants with chronic health conditions and food insecurity to allow for positive lifestyle changes resulting in decreased overall risk factors, improved long-term health outcomes, better quality of life, and reduced medical services and associated costs.
The “Food is Medicine” idea is rooted in the belief that the foods we consume can have a profound impact on our overall well-being, much like medical treatments, offering a proactive approach to health management and disease prevention.
