Ride to Survive Scheduled for Saturday, October 10

Registration is now open offering three different levels of rides and a 5K and 8K walk/run.
Ste. Genevieve, MO – Ride to Survive is excited to return for its 16th year of raising funds for cancer care patients at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) sponsored by Mississippi Lime Company.
The fun-filled schedule of events for Saturday includes three bike routes, 3, 8, 30-miles, and a 5K and 8K run/walk. Riders and walkers will go on scenic routes throughout Ste. Genevieve County starting at Ste. Genevieve County YMCA, 21390 Highway 32. Registration on the day of the event will begin at 7 am and the ride starts at 8 am. Participants will have lots to see and do!
New this year is an 8K timed run in addition to a 5K timed run. Both runs will be timed by Cape Road Runners. There will be Zumba for kids, a fun run, inflatables and food trucks.
“We’ll kick off the ride at the Ste. Genevieve County YMCA,” stated Mary Bleckler, Friends Foundation director/Community Outreach. “Cyclists will encounter routes that cover beautiful countryside.”
Participate as an individual or promote health and wellness at your home, workplace or school and encourage family and friends to join you as a team. For teams, each team member must register and sign a waiver.
All levels of bike riders, runners and walkers are welcome on these exciting routes created just for you! Participants can choose from the 5K or 8K Run/Walk or 3, 8 or 30-mile rides. Individuals must be 16 years old or accompanied by an adult. The cost to participate is $35 per person and includes a t-shirt. The proceeds from the Ride to Survive will go to support the Alan P. Lyss Center for Cancer Care and Clinical Research and Outpatient Infusion Center at SGCMH.
“Drs. Stein and Ware along with our current oncologists and nurses, provide such a high level of compassionate care along with opportunities for clinical trials,” commented Katie Hogenmiller, RN, director of Outpatient Services. “Our cancer center staff cares for our neighbors, family, friends, sisters and cousins—these are people that would do anything for you to make sure you get the best cancer care possible.”
The center is referred to as the “smallest cancer research facility across the country” as part of a community outreach program through Missouri Baptist Cancer Center (MBCC), which is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP).
“It is an honor to be a part of such a prestigious and quality program and offer optimal, state-of-the-art cancer care to our community,” stated Hogenmiller.
Hogenmiller also praised the many oncology patients who participate in clinical trials.
“Their willingness to participate is so important in advancing cancer care in many cases for themselves, but also for future patients with cancer who will benefit from the knowledge gained from current clinical trials.”
