SGCMH Welcomes New Board of Trustee Member
April 17, 2025
Ste. Genevieve, MO. Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome David Weber as the newest Board of Trustee member. Weber won his election to the post on April 8, and replaces Bruce Giesler who did not seek re-election.
Weber said he was encouraged to run for the SGCMH Board of Trustees and looks forward to being a member and supporting the hospital’s mission of putting people first by providing excellent, personalized, and compassionate healthcare.
“This will be interesting,” he said. “I see this as a great opportunity and I am looking forward to getting started.”
Weber is already president of the hospital’s Friends Foundation, so he’s very familiar with the hospital and sees the move to the board of trustees as an easy transition.
“I’ll have to step down from the Foundation position, but I hope to be kind of a liaison between the two boards,” he said. “I think the hospital is as important as our schools and community center. It’s the backbone of healthcare, ensuring the community can stay healthy and live long, quality lives.”
Weber has been a part of the community for years and is familiar with the board of trustees. Weber recently had conversation with Brock Gibson, who came onto the board a year ago.
“Brock and I have recently talked several times, so I’ve gotten to know him,” he said. “All of us want the hospital to remain successful and independent.”
Weber is owner of Ste. Genevieve County Abstract Company, and is dedicated to learning as much as possible about healthcare to help the hospital and its clinics thrive.
“While SGCMH is a not-for-profit, it must operate like any other organization to be financially sustainable,” he said. “This means implementing sound business practices, including budgeting, revenue generation, and efficient resource management, which the board has always done. I’m looking forward to working with this board.”
Weber joins Rod Scherer, Veronica Sharlow, Kurt Basler and Brock Gibson on the SGCMH Board of Trustees.
Weber has a strong sense of community belonging to a number of organizations like the Ste. Genevieve Rotary Club, Ste. Genevieve County Community Center Board and Ste. Genevieve County Industrial Development Corporation. He and his wife Laura have two grown children and enjoy spending time with their grandchildren.
