Our Philosophy
Dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant breast disease
(PRONOUNCED “MA-TEE”)
- People of mixed European and Native American descent. (like the founders of Ste Gen)
- In Greek Mythology, the goddess of advice, wisdom, and good counsel.
- The innermost satellite (moon) of the planet Jupiter.
The meaning of the word "Métis" is multifaceted. Multifaceted also describes our practice at Métis Breast Center.
We are committed to providing the most advanced, comprehensive breast care for all patients with breast health concerns.
This includes the entire spectrum of breast care services, from breast cancer prevention and genetic counseling to state of the art imaging and minimally invasive breast biopsy techniques.
We offer timely diagnosis of breast cancer, and work with a multidisciplinary team of professionals to provide treatment driven by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines.
The treatment of breast disease requires a team approach. That team includes the patient and the surgeon, the radiologist reading the mammogram, and many times, a radiation oncologist, a medical oncologist, and sometimes counseling professionals and plastic surgeons.
We feel privileged to participate in the care of patients in our community. We are dedicated to providing up to date, state of the art breast care. We hope that by achieving this goal, we can foster the healing process in each person we treat.
I am also board certified in Lifestyle Medicine, a medical specialty that uses therapeutic lifestyle interventions as a primary modality to treat chronic conditions.
Lifestyle medicine certified clinicians are trained to apply evidence-based, whole-person, prescriptive lifestyle change to treat and, when used intensively, often reverse chronic disease. Applying the six pillars of lifestyle medicine—a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections—also provides effective prevention for chronic medical conditions including obesity, hypertension, heart disease and breast cancer.
