A Letter From Two Grateful Parents

My name is Erin Ingram. I have been a resident of Ste. Genevieve all my life. I have known many physicians throughout the past 20-plus years, and I have always found that our town has some of the best medical professionals around. I really want to sing the praises of one special physician, Dr. Maryam Baikpour.
My husband, Doug, and I were trying to start our family, and I went to a few different physicians during that time to help us achieve our goal. After loss and heartbreak, we called it quits. Two months later, we received a positive test!
I called that very day to schedule an appointment with the last OB/GYN I had seen. He was no longer practicing in our area. A little panicked, I took an appointment with Dr. Baikpour. She was able to see me right away, and b had already reviewed my chart, and had an entire game plan set up by the time I walked into that office.
My first honest opinion of her was that she was over the top and she talked fast. She had me doing tests and setting up appointments with specialists right then and there—no time to think or digest. My head felt like it was going to spin off.
What I didn’t know at the time was that she was genuinely concerned with my well-being and the well-being of this pregnancy. She wanted to help us and see this pregnancy through. She cared. During my pregnancy, she went above and beyond to explain why I needed to do things I did not want to do and followed up to make sure I was following doctor’s orders.
Dr. Baikpour put up with a lot from me and continued to keep up with every little detail. We ended up having our rainbow baby, Florence Grace, on April 14, 2023—my birthday.
I’m sure any other physician would’ve fired me as a patient at some point, but
Dr. Baikpour stuck by me. She saw us all the way through and after. My husband and I will forever be grateful for the compassion and patience that this very special physician showed us.
Dr. Baikpour will always hold a huge and important part of my heart.
