AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will award up to five $1000 scholarships, $500 for each semester of 2025-2026 school year. Applicants must be a Ste. Genevieve County resident; high school graduates of any age and accepted in an accredited program in the medical field. The deadline for returning the application is May 15, 2025. Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Guidelines
ARTICLE I – DESIGNATION
These scholarships shall be designated and known as the Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarships.
ARTICLE II – DESCRIPTION
Section 1 - Up to five $1000 scholarships shall be awarded each school year.
Section 2 - These scholarships shall consist of two payments of $500, each payment to be made at the beginning of the first and second semesters respectively. In order to receive the second scholarship payment of $500, the applicant must have earned a minimum grade average of C during the first semester of schooling.
Section 3 - The time period covered by these scholarships shall be one school year.
Section 4 - Applicants can re-apply each year for scholarships. First consideration will be given to applicants who have not previously been awarded our scholarship.
ARTICLE III – SELECTION PROCEDURE
Section 1 - The criteria to be used in the selection of recipients shall be as follows:
- Need
- Scholastic Record, B or Better
- Motivation (reason for wanting to advance educational status)
- Conduct
- Nurses’ aides, hospital employees and nursing home employees will receive extra credit
- Priority will be given to nursing and/or areas with anticipated shortages
Section 2 - The scholarship committee may select up to five scholarship recipients and an alternate specifically for these scholarships.
Section 3 - Criteria for eligibility:
- The applicant must have a letter that they have been accepted in an approved medical/nursing program and have verification of enrollment of at least 12 credit hours or more classes into such programs.
- Any applicants must either reside in Ste. Genevieve County for the past six months or out-of-county applicants must be employed in good standing at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital for at least one (1) year from date of application.
- The applicant must continue his/her education at an accredited institution offering an accredited program.
Section 4 - Applicants receiving other scholarships may still be considered for these scholarships at the discretion of the committee.
Section 5 - The past school record and recommendation of the administration of the school attended will be used as one criteria in the selection.
Section 6 - If you are an employee or have been a SGCMH employee, past hospital services and recommendation of hospital representative will be used as one criterion in the selection.
Section 7 - Any interested person must complete application form and write a detailed paragraph on why he or she should be considered for these scholarships.
Section 8 - Scholarship recipients shall keep the Hospital Auxiliary informed with official transcript of first semester grades. ARTICLE IV – GENERAL PROVISIONS
Section 1 - The accredited institution attended by the recipient shall offer the necessary courses that are required as a prerequisite for the examination given by the appropriate State board of licensure/certification.
Section 2 - If the recipients do not successfully complete the necessary course work and pass the appropriate State board examination/certification, or other credentialing/registering process, said scholarships are void and all money received shall be repaid to the scholarship fund within 2 years interest free.
Section 3 - If the scholarship recipients fail to use said scholarships, they will be awarded in full to a selected alternate. In case the alternate fails to use same, the money will be reverted to the scholarship fund.
Section 4 - Deadline for returning application will be May 15, 2025.
Section 5 - Past school records and recommendations of school administration will be presented with application. The recommendation of Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital Administration and/or Department Manager may also be included with the application.
Section 6 - All applications will be received only by the Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Chairman.
Section 7 - Questions on interpretation of this form are the decision of the Hospital Auxiliary Board.
Section 8 - Scholarship money will be sent to the applicant’s school.
